Es el \u201cMes de los Santos Populares\u201d y casi todas las ciudades y pueblos celebran un festival para honrar a uno de ellos. Si bien esta fiesta dura 13<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> siglo medieval, los rituales que incorpora se remontan mucho m\u00e1s tiempo atr\u00e1s. He escrito sobre esto en otros Diarios (ver Entrudo de Lavarim), pero esta fiesta en particular conserva muy antiguas costumbres de solsticio de verano: fuego, danzas, rituales de fertilidad y ofrendas para cosechas abundantes. Por lo tanto, si est\u00e1s pensando en ra\u00edces paganas, acertar\u00edas. Es un ejemplo cl\u00e1sico de c\u00f3mo las antiguas tradiciones de solsticio de verano fueron absorbidas en la celebraci\u00f3n cristiana. santos en distintas ciudades tienen diferentes ambientes y experiencias. Lisboa se centra en las sardinas, la cerveza y el baile en las calles de Alfama. Oporto se centra en los fuegos artificiales desde el puente que se reflejan en el r\u00edo Duero e iluminan su impresionante horizonte.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cm-braga.pt\/en\/0101\/conhecer\/posto-de-turismo\">Calzones<\/a> se trata de gigantes, o como ellos los llaman, Gigantones Cabe\u00e7udos. Braga tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 a unos 90 minutos de Tiny Escape, por lo que es f\u00e1cil asistir.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los gigantes procesionales aparecieron por primera vez en las festividades religiosas portuguesas durante el siglo XIII<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> siglo. Est\u00e1n hechos de papel mach\u00e9 pintado y montados sobre un armaz\u00f3n de madera que una persona lleva sobre sus hombros. Suena simple, pero cr\u00e9anme, son impresionantes cuando te superan en altura.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Originalmente, los gigantes eran figuras religiosas. Con el tiempo, evolucionaron para incluir:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Realeza<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tipos locales (como un campesino r\u00fastico)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Personajes c\u00f3micos o traviesos<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">H\u00e9roes locales<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monstruos<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mientras ve\u00eda a estos reyes y reinas interactuar, no pude evitar pensar en las compa\u00f1\u00edas de teatro ambulantes de Game of Thrones. Eran serios en cuanto a tema, pero cargados de s\u00e1tira y humor. Ha sido la capital espiritual del norte de Portugal durante m\u00e1s de 1000 a\u00f1os. A veces se la llama la Roma portuguesa y, hist\u00f3ricamente, tuvo un poder real. Su fiesta es una de las m\u00e1s antiguas y, por lo tanto, la mezcla de fe, hogueras, santos y fiestas fue en realidad bastante radical. Los fiesteros que comen sardinas en Lisboa y los observadores de fuegos artificiales de Oporto le deben a Braga las fiestas de santos
