For us, it was Dallas, Texas. We’re the two guys on the right—Matt and Wes—we met on an icy Christmas night over 25 years ago. We had two MBAs and two big careers, but one shared obsession: travel. After years of building successful careers at companies you’ve probably heard of (VRBO, Expedia), we asked ourselves a simple question: we achieved the American dream, now what?
Perhaps ironically, Portugal was the answer. Within a week of landing in Lisbon, we met Patrick. He’s the guy on the left. He had just arrived fresh from São Paulo, Brazil with a pocketful of master’s degrees, and a head full of international banking. He landed that big banking job, but quickly discovered he was more entrepreneur than banker.
After a lot of coffee and good Portuguese wine, the answer to, “Now what?” evolved from simply Portugal to Tiny Escape – Portugal.
Portugal is often reduced to beaches and its iconic cities. We wanted to share the rest with our guests: overlooked cities like Viseu—a time capsule of charm; villages where warmth is a way of life; vast and well-maintained trail networks made for wandering—and for wonder; landscapes shaped for centuries by Romans, Moors, and, of course, the Portuguese.
Here, there are streams and pools that shimmer turquoise, and time slows down just enough for you to take it all in: pristine, authentic, and enduring. We bought a small quinta with huge potential and set out to craft a stay that’s inspiring, sustainable, and unexpectedly luxurious.
Your experience can take many forms—from mountain trails to quiet moments by our bio pool. Whether you are an intrepid explorer or just need a little peace, this is a place to feel connected to Portugal—and to yourself.
Escape the ordinary. Experience Portugal.
