The Experience

The foundation for this church was built nearly 2000 years ago!   It has gone through a lot of changes and now stands in partial ruins, yet the bell tower is open and has a great view.  Also roam the ancient cemetery next door.  To learn more about the chapel, check out our journals (blogs) on the home page.

Helpful Hints

  • It’s a beautiful hike but you can also rent one of our E-bikes.
  • There is a walking trail that goes all the way around the church ruins.
  • Many of the ruins are accessible, just be careful.
  • In the late summer, feel free to snack on the figs.  There is a giant tree on the backside of the ruins.
  • If you bike, please be mindful of two things.  First, the entry points have bars that block motorized vehicles and there are a lot of them.  Be careful, especially at night when biking.  Second, there are delicate and innocent looking vines that often hang down along the trail.  Avoid them, they are micro-thorns.
